Overalls for the farmers market

Overalls: Old
Shoes: Modcloth
Hat: Modcloth
Necklace: Deluxe in Eugene
Purse: Coach old but similar here

I went to the farmers market today and I just felt like wearing a pair of old overalls.  There are so comfortable, and today was the perfect day to wear them because the weather is finally pleasant instead of scorching hot.  I also thought this would be the perfect time to wear my new shoes with cats on them.  I can not believe how comfortable they are, and they are so fun.  I love cats and so any time I see an item with a cat or almost any animal I have a hard time not buying it.

Fairy tale days

Dress: Modcloth
Purse: old from Hawaii
Hair Tie:Modcloth
Owl ring: Coffee shop on the Oregon Coast
Shoes: Modcloth (no longer available)

When I first saw this dress from Modcloth, I knew I had to have it.  I love fairytales; they were such a big part of my childhood.  I grew up on a farm in Oregon with acres and acres of woods behind our home. Red riding hood was especially relevant to me because of the woods in our backyard. I remember being frightened by this story when I was little but also enchanted.  When I wore this dress today, I received so many compliments.  It's fun to wear something that inspires strangers to come up and talk to you.  I think this dress will also be very fun in the winter with a red coat and tights.

Popsicles and Hot Dogs

Dress: Modcloth
Necklace: J. Crew (old)
Shoes: Modcloth (sold out)
Earrings: In my christmas stocking, similar here
Purse: the sak (old) but similar
Hair tie: Modcloth

Today my street was closed because the city was trying to promote alternate types of transportation.  It was fun to see everyone biking and walking down the middle of the street.  At the park by my house, they had a big festival with food, a band, free bike repair and a snow cone booth.  It was fun to walk over to the park and not even think having to look for cars.  I thought this was the perfect dress to wear to the park where they were serving hot dogs and popcicles.  I received a lot of compliments on my dress today.  I think they only close the streets for this reason once a year but it sure was fun.  Every year they rotate which streets are closed.  This year they chose my neighborhood.  Yay.

Blazing hot summer day

Yesterday it was 94 degrees and today it is supposed to be somewhere in the 90's.  The upstairs in our house doesn't have any insulation.  We are remodeling our house next week and it will have great insulation from now on and I am so excited.  It is unbearably hot here right now, kind of wishing I was back in Hawaii even though I love Eugene in the summer.
Dress: Thrifted
Shoes: Modcloth
Necklace: Vintage 1950's.
Earrings: Someone at Hookena Beach named Natalia was making these.
Purse: borrowed from my daughter
Sunnies: Asian candy
Hat: Modcloth

Trash Fashion Show

All of these fashions are made out of trash.  The creativity in this fashion show is amazing, so many things are imagined in new ways.  The company that puts on this fashion show is Haute Trash.  They continue to amaze me every year.  The goal is performance art with the intent to make us think about recycling and reusing items.  My understanding was the organization started when its founder, Susan Lamela, was repairing a high end garment and said, "I could do better with trash".  Kristi Byrd from Portland, Oregon was the designer that worked on this fashion show.  Haute Trash used to do a fashion show every year in Hawaii, and now it is fun to see them every year at the Oregon Country Fair.
