Late in the day

Dress:  Pearl Lowe (old)
Sunnies: Modcloth
Hair flower: Country fair in Eugene, Oregon
Sandals: Paradise Found Keauhou

This is an old set of cement chairs around a table that an old school used to use when they cooked in the fire pit.  They used to make bread in the fire pit.  These chairs are incredibly heavy.  It was late in the day when I took these pictures as you can see from the lighting.  I went to Honaunau beach again this morning but it was so crowded I didn't take any pictures.  It is usually nice and peaceful there during the week.  I am not sure why so many people were there today.

This is a view of a garden in Kealakekua which I have taken pictures of before, this is a farther away view.

A peaceful June morning at Manini beach

Today we went to Manini beach and had a very lazy perfect day.  the water was wonderful.  This beach is on Kealakekua Bay and is never very crowded.  There is a small opening into the ocean so the water tends to be cold when you enter the bay, but the farther out you swim, the warmer it gets.  This is a wonderful place to come relax for the day.  It does get a bit hot but there are lots of trees so it is easy to find shade.  There are also several picnic tables if you want to come and have lunch.

The Life of the Land

Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Δ€ina i ka Pono is a famous Hawaiian saying that is most commonly translated to mean the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.  It is the state of Hawaii motto.  It was first spoken by Kamehameha III in the mid 1800's.

Black and white and spots all over

Scarf: Modcloth
Bag: Thrift NYC
Owl Ring: Coffee Shop in Lincoln City
Cardigan: Talbots
Shoes: Modcloth
Sunnies: asian icandy

I love the combination of black and white together.  It always feels so classic to me.  This was a very easy outfit to pull together since I didn't have much time this morning. This forest is above the Kealakekua hospital and I love taking walks up there.  It feels very ancient and mysterious.  There are so many wild plants that grow farther up in the forest.  This area used to be the main town about 30 years ago but now Kailua Kona is considered the main town.  There is still a hospital and a post office and some great restaurants and shops.  The area is a bit more sleepy than town, and I enjoy being out of the touristy areas.
